“When you learn, teach. When you get, give.” – Maya Angelou
I read about a study last week. A group of people was divided in half.
The first half was told to go out and pursue happiness.
The second half was told to go out and pursue a meaningful life.
When the study was complete, the participants were tested. The group that pursued a meaningful life reported lives that were happier than those who had pursued happiness itself.
I’m not surprised by the result. When you look at Angelou’s quote above, it supports the thought. We think achievement and getting stuff will provide happiness. But, I find that helping people to learn by teaching or sharing from my bounty with others always satisfies more.
