Some people aspire to leadership and positions of authority. They are attracted to the power and the authority. They will ask how to get there.
It’s not really a magic solution.
You have to begin to behave like the leader you want to be.
Be excellent at your work. Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in the responsibilities you have. People who are excellent at performing their current responsibilities seem to attract more.
Be a good teammate. Work as hard as anyone on your team. Fulfill your responsibilities without exception. Teammates will follow those who gain their trust through consistent accountability.
Keep learning. New learning sparks creative ideas. New learning fosters a desire to experience new things. That willingness to look for new and better ways is inspirational. People follow those that inspire them.
Treat others how you wish to be treated. Listen. Endeavor to understand. Remember names. Have a sense of those around you and what they need.
Be a model. Leadership and meaningful work will follow.
