“In order to be a winner, you have to look for ways of getting things done and not for reasons why things can’t be done. People who live with excuses have things that can’t be done hovering around them all the time”. Mike Krzyzewski, Hall of Fame basketball coach
This is a “happening to the world” statement.
What needs to be done? What can be done? How do we change things to make this better?
These kinds of questions are foremost in the minds of people who get things done. Obstacles and barriers certainly weigh in, but those things are considered, accounted for, a plan is made, and action begins.
In our world of producing products, measurement matters. Every day. Every way.
At the end of the day, we fight to make our product at a cost lower than what we sold it for. When we make 20 million pallets and profit each time, it mounts up. When we sell 500 million board feet and make a profit each time, it mounts up. When we sell 8 million board feet, drive a million miles – it all adds up.
The margins in our business are lean. Our longevity depends on regular performance and dedication to improve. We must wake up each day with the mindset of how we can improve and make another penny more.
