Remembering Glenn Frey

Aging myself today, but The Eagles are one of the bands that resonated with me in my youth.

So, I was sad to learn of Glenn Frey’s death yesterday. I was reflecting upon the great poetry of the Eagles.

“So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains. And we never even know we have the key.” Already Gone

“Well, I heard some people talkin’ just the other day

And they said you were gonna put me on a shelf

But let me tell you I got some news for you

And you’ll soon find out it’s true

And then you’ll have to eat your lunch all by yourself.”

“It’s a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford slowin’ down to take a look at me.” Take It Easy.

“Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses. You been out ridin’ fences for so long now.” Desperado.

“You know we always had each other baby

I guess that wasn’t enough

Oh, but here in my heart

I give you the best of my love” Best of My Love

“I’ve been searching for the daughter

Of the devil himself

I’ve been searching for an angel in white

I’ve been waiting for a woman who’s a little

Of both

And I can feel her but she’s nowhere

In sight” One of These Nights

“City girls just seem to find out early

How to open doors with just a smile” Lyin’ Eyes

“You can check-out any time you like,

But you can never leave!” Hotel California

“What the head makes cloudy

The heart makes very clear

The days were so much brighter

In the time when she was here” New York Minute

“He was a hard-headed man he was brutally handsome

And she was terminally pretty” Life in the Fast Lane

If you don’t do know the Eagles, do yourself a favor. Google or You Tube a few of them. The music may have some age on it’ but it still resonates.

Rest in Peace Glenn Frey. You inspired so many of us.
