“I got such great feedback after writing to our pallet plant managers for 40 days (after a retreat on acting like an owner) that I kept doing it. I want to be the voice in their head when they make decisions on the job.” – Howe Q. Wallace, President PalletOne, Inc.

How to be better at work and in life: A Field Guide

Passionate about People, Howe Q. Wallace hopes you are ‘Happening to the World’

Howe Q. Wallace, founding president of PalletOne, Inc., the largest new wood pallet manufacturer in the United States, has been writing messages to his staff most days since 2005. What started out as a 40-day follow-up campaign to develop ownership qualities in middle managers after a leadership retreat has grown into an expansive body of work that now sets a positive tone daily for 1,500 men and women at 18 facilities in 10 states.

Select messages from Wallace’s blog have been compiled in a Field Guide for PalletOne and partner company team members to ensure new hires hear the same motivational messages their coworkers have been absorbing for years. Wallace’s aim is to develop the full potential of his staff, helping to shape them into better people who are more successful and effective in all aspects of their lives.

“I’m passionate about the possibilities of people,” he said. “I want our employees to be the best little league coaches, scout leaders and PTA members in the community. If you work with us, we want you to leave here better every day.”

Wallace holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Florida and a master’s degree from the College of Education at Michigan State University. He has served as a board member and president in 2018 for the Alpha Tau Omega National Fraternity. Wallace has also served on the Board of Directors of the National Wooden Pallet and Container Association. With more than 2,000 blog messages penned on leadership, teamwork, motivation and simply being your best, everyone can learn something from Howe Q. Wallace.
