Howe Q. Wallace, President of PalletOne, Inc., the largest new wood pallet manufacturer in America, has written thought-provoking messages to his staff since 2005. What began as a 40-day campaign to develop ownership qualities in middle managers has grown into a body of work that sets a positive tone daily for 1,500 staff members.
More than 50 messages – on topics including leadership, teamwork, motivation, and courageous communication – have been compiled in the field guide for PalletOne and partner companies to ensure new hires hear the same key messages as their coworkers. The goal is to develop the full potential of the staff, shaping them into better people who are more successful and effective at home and in the workplace.
Wallace is passionate about the possibilities of people and wants employees to be the best little league coaches, scout leaders, and PTA members in their communities. He wants them to leave work better every day. At PalletOne, every new employee receives a guide on their first work day and then participates actively in weekly group lessons.
