BUILDING HIGH EXPECTATIONS INTO OTHERS

What do you expect?

I saw this quote recently: “Build high expectations into others.”

It made me pause. Do I expect big things from those around me? Is developing high expectations a strategy for me?

Great leaders master the art of high expectations:

  • ·They believe that most of their charges don’t know how good they can be. They press their team to move into hard territories. Try new things. Set big goals.
  • They see potential. They paint pictures of possibility. Their vision is about achievement.
  • They reinforce high expectations constantly. They give feedback. Offer coaching. Demand improvement. Hold them to a higher standard.
  • They resist “softness” but exude a warmth that communicates respect and positive regard.

High expectations are an “iron fist” covered in a velvet glove.

We expect to overcome. We expect to achieve. We expect to happen to the world.

Inspect your expectation game. Let’s raise it up a notch with our family and our business.
