“We choose the adjective to describe the noun that we are.” – Priscilla Shirer
If you had only one word to describe your role in the world and one adjective to refine it, what would that noun and adjective be?
Actually, I’m still reflecting on what my answer might be but it’s an exercise I recommend.
Think about the nouns that describe the many roles in your life: Spouse ˖ Parent ˖ Teammate ˖ Artisan ˖ Craftsman ˖ Athlete ˖ Teacher ˖ Leader. How we prioritize those nouns and pursue them will define the impact achieved and the legacy created.
Shirer notes that the adjective chosen to describe your noun makes your life distinctive It gives you an edge. It adds power. It makes you unique.
In these days of dynamic change, I encourage you to take some quiet time to consider who it is you intend to be in the world, and how your approach defines you.
It can focus your efforts. Refine your direction. Increase your satisfaction Improve your choices on how you deploy your gifts.
