Podcasts: A Good Habit

Do you listen to podcasts?

I’m developing a group of podcasts I listen to on a regular basis. It’s easy to do.

If you have an iTunes account (computer or cell phone) you can search for podcasts available. If you find one that interests you, you can download it by subscribing. All the podcasts I subscribe to are free.

On phones, there is a Podcast App. If you download that App, every podcast you subscribe to gets housed there. In most cases, they automatically update when a new podcast is created.

There are thousands of podcasts. Some have many subscribers and some have a few. ITunes helps you find new stuff by creating lists of the “most listened” to, podcasts by topics and so on.

Here are a few I like:

Freakonomics radio. Comes out once a week.

Harvard Business Review. They interview authors of the magazine’s articles. Cuts down on my need to read the articles.

Andy Stanley Leadership Podcast. Comes out once a month.

I ride a good bit in a car. I used to have the “habit” of listening to sports talk shows or whatever was on the radio. I see listening to podcasts as a positive habit to replace one less productive. I learn stuff as I ride. Sometimes the stuff I learn causes me to be a better husband, a more faithful Christian, a better boss, a more insightful businessman.

I recommend the habit to you.
