RESOLUTIONS – PART 3 – WHO HAVE I HELPED?

Jocko Willink, a former Navy Seal who speaks and writes about leadership and discipline, asserts you will grow if you ask yourself seven questions every day and then act accordingly the next day, based on your answers.Β

I will spend the next few days reviewing each question one at a time.Β Here’s the third question:

Who have I helped?

We’ve built our culture on helping.

Think about it:

Most of us work in teams. While it’s important to understand and do our jobs well, most of our responsibilities center around helping others do their jobs.

A great way to consider who you help is to ask yourself, β€œwho is my customer?”

If you’re a forklift driver, you’re helping your teammates when you keep the input station filled with raw material and empty stations of completed products.

If you’re a payroll person, you are helping when the check is delivered and everything is accurate.

A salesman helps our paying customers by ensuring the specs are correct and the delivery is timely. We help our salesmen when we provide the quality product the customer expects.

Value how you help others every day. We wouldn’t be the same without it. Your daily contributions are how you happen to the world.
