Winning is about sprinting when the distance is unknown. The only thing for sure is that if you don’t chase winning, you will lose.
You can be obsessed with winning. Some take it to the extreme. An obsession with winning can turn into bad losing.
I like to see a competitive nature in my teammates. There’s no question in my mind that life is better lived when it features striving for something better. A desire to get better, the effort to try to achieve better, and the impact of that “sprint” causes us to learn, helps us to appreciate, and adds to our lives.
So, here’s a reminder. When you find yourself in one of those “oh well” moments and you don’t feel any zip, it’s worth asking yourself “what am I chasing?”
It may be time to lace up your sprinting shoes.
