THE REAL MEANING OF TRIALS WE ENCOUNTER…

On the road this week.  A smattering of visits with customers, colleagues, partners and plants.

Picked up a few phrases to share:

From reading about a press session Georgia football coach Kirby Smart conducted before the preseason kicked off.  He says his team defines its culture with two words: “Do more!”

While Georgia has achieved success, they have fallen short of their championship goal.  Smart says the statement is simple, memorable and captures all that needs to be said.

“Do more” in terms of individual efforts.  Do more in terms of measurable results.  Lift more.  Run more. Accomplish more.  When chasing a goal, it’s about more.

Here’s another: “A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor.”

How true is that? You don’t become accomplished without encountering trials.  The more you face trials and embrace them, the more your confidence grows.  Being in a hole doesn’t scare you because you know your way out.  In fact, you encounter trials better by doing more.

The Bible says: “Consider it pure joy, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  4Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Rougher seas produce results you don’t expect.  It causes you to learn things about yourself you didn’t know you had.
