Get Better Every Day

“Good, better, best. Never let it rest … until your good is better and your better is best!”

Heard that saying at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes camp almost 30 years ago. It goes along with my word for 2020, which is “progress.”

Seems to me, to have a strategy to get better every day is a sound one.

To get better every day doesn’t happen by mistake. You must choose to do so. Assess where you stand, and then establish a target. Make a plan to get there. Measure your outcomes.

Do it all again the next day.

Here’s how I fail at this: I start the day without intention. Take things as they come. Stack days without intention on each other until it becomes habitual. Use comparison instead of execution as my standard.

Instead of comparing myself to my neighbor as a success measurement, I should develop a better standard of whether I am using my talent to my potential as I develop new skills and learn more.

Get better every day.

If you don’t today, redouble your efforts to turn the tide tomorrow.

Don’t quit until you have tapped all of which you are capable.

That’s progress.
