Doing a Good Job Starts With Safety

Have a good day today?

The experts say that a key to having an energized workforce is making sure every person understands what is expected of them. Unclear expectations mean lack of purpose. People without purpose aren’t motivated. Lack of motivation means unhappy employees.

So, let me tell you expectation number one. Go home safe. If you haven’t been safe, you haven’t done your job.

You have to start the day with the intention of being safe. You put on the required safety gear. You follow the procedures like lockout/tagout.

Someone who really does a good safety job adopts the company’s commitment to safety.

They pay attention to colleagues. They make sure the “rookies” understand the risks and don’t wander into mistakes that injure them. They remind their experienced colleagues to be careful in the dangerous situations. They make the extra effort to ensure unsafe conditions are reported and that someone corrects it.

There is no amount of productivity which overcomes an accident.

Doing a good job starts with safety.
